Whitewater's 2015 season on the Chattahoochee River officially begins May 8th with multiple activities planned on RiverFest Weekend. New this year is the Blue Heron Zip Line and Aerial Course. Crossing over the Chattahoochee River, the Blue Heron Zip Line is the only dual-zip line that connects two states and reaches speeds up to 40 mph. The Zip Line starts on the Columbus RiverWalk and ends on the Phenix City RiverWalk.

The Blue Heron Aerial Course is definitely a challenge for zipliners  in Phenix City with a total of 10 obstacles.

The Chattahoochee River Whitewater course boasts Class I-IV+ rapids. The Longest Urban Whitewater Course in the World, this is 2.5-miles on the Chattahoochee River running between the cities of Columbus, GA. and Phenix City, AL. The course offers "mild to wild" experiences. During the normal day 800 - 1,300 CFS (Cubic Feet per Second) are released to offer a family-class whitewater experience that includes a float in the habitat pool. During the high-water excursions 8,000 - 13,000 CFS is released out to energize the notorious "Cut Bait Rapid". This infamous rapid provides thrill seekers with an adrenaline rush and is widely known to throw rafters up and then dump them into the river!

Kayakers are swarming to the Chattahoochee River Whitewater to get a look at the newest paddling hotspot on the East Coast where playboaters hit big water with flows up to 13,000 CFS and the RiverWalk Island has lights to kayak at night!

Chattahoochee River Whitewater also offers a standing wave that attracts river surfers from all over. River surfers come to surf the Great Wave for a warm & safe, yet very extreme white water experience. Stand Up Paddleboarders test themselves by paddling down a rapid challenging their ability to balance on a board.

Unlike other whitewater locations, the Chattahoochee River Whitewater Park is located near historic Uptown Columbus and Downtown Phenix City. With locally-owned and operated restaurants, food truck parks, shopping, live music and more. So come on down and plan a summer trip to the Chattahoochee River Whitewater Park, where outdoor adventure blends with a very unique city life style in two states!
