1.3 miles from Chattahoochee River Whitewater
This iconic 3,500 sq ft mansion has been a cornerstone of Columbus since the Civil War, but modernized to offer the highest luxury. Nestled in a beautiful neighborhood just 20 minutes from Fort Benning and less than 10 minutes from the riverfront and downtown Columbus, the location can't be beat! After you finish exploring, come home to a front porch swing! We also have an AWESOME Tiny Home in the back, which you can rent separately just search for Columbus Tiny House
Whether you are wanting to relax on the front porch, grill out in the back yard, detox in the jacuzzi, or cook a big meal in the kitchen, we want this to be a cozy home away from home. Work from any room in this mansion with the extra strong Wifi!
*PLEASE NOTE* We have doubled the amount of time spent cleaning each house and are ensuring our staff wipes down every surface with bleach to protect your family during their stay
Fans of historic homes will love the stain glass, original floors, and other details. The kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms are all fully furnished and complete with all amenities. This place is great for family and friends to spend time together.
My wife and I live in another house downtown and are available if guests have any questions, but typically we just leave a key outside.
This is a historic neighborhood with stable families. Very safe and neighbors are all very friendly.
Quiet hours after 10:00 p.m.
Thank you for staying with us! For your convenience, we have pulled together some quick tips and pointers for a perfect stay at our place in Columbus. Of course, if any of your questions are not addressed by this document, please feel free to reach out!
The address for the house is 1512 18th Street, Columbus, GA 31901 (not to be confused with 1512 18th Avenue!)
When you arrive, please walk around the front of the house and on the porch to the door on the right, past the swing (not the one directly in front of the stairs).
Next to this door is a lockbox (see lockbox instructions for how to enter). Inside the lockbox, you’ll find the key to the front door. Please do not lose the key!
When you enter the house, the security alarm will announce that the door is open, but it will not go off.
Several of the bedrooms have light remotes that look a bit strange. However, they are easy to use! Hit the silver button on the bottom right to turn the lights up, the silver button on the bottom left to turn the lights down, and use the four grey buttons in the circle at the top to adjust the fan speed.
To turn the fan/light off, hit the grey round button in the middle of the circle.
There is a TV in the living room (downstairs at the front of the house), and it is equipped with basic cable and a Roku.
The Roku remote is black and purple, and if you turn the TV on and hit the “home” button on the Roku remote, it will take you to a menu that will let you log in to Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, etc.
Kitchen and bathrooms
- The kitchen is fully equipped, with plates, bowls, pots, and pans etc. in the glass cabinets on either side of the stove, silverware (and a wine/beer bottle opener) in the drawers to the left of the stove, and glasses and mugs in the cabinets near the sink.
There is also a dishwasher and a coffeemaker for your convenience. Coffee filters are in the cabinet by the coffeemaker, and dishwasher detergent packs are under the sink. If you run out of paper towels, there are more in the hall closet.
- The bathrooms each have towels, bathmats, soap, and shampoo. If you run out of toilet paper, there is a lot more in the hall closet by the back door.
Bedrooms and linens
The house has a LOT of sleeping options:
•King-size bed downstairs
•2 queen beds upstairs (front and middle bedrooms)
•1 full-size bed (in the back bedroom upstairs)
•1 twin-size daybed (in the back bedroom downstairs)
•1 queen pull-out couch (in the living room downstairs)
There are sheets for each of these beds, and 13 towels. All of the main beds will have sheets on them. The linens for the pull-out couch are located in the closet with the twin daybed (between the king bedroom and bathroom).
We have a long driveway, and street parking is allowed in Columbus as long as cars are parked in the same direction as traffic.
The small studio in the back yard is rented separately, and these guests will have exclusive access to the small parking pad on the left of the driveway. Please do not park here, and do not block cars that are parked here into that part of the driveway.
Grill and yard
There is a charcoal grill in the backyard for your convenience. However, we do ask that you supply your own charcoal, and that you clean the grill out before you leave. If you plan to host an event, please let us know. If no one is in the cottage out back, you can use either the backyard or front yard. However, if guests are staying in the cottage, please keep any main activities to the front porch and yard. Again, if you are planning to host a party outside, just let us know.
The yard is fenced for any dogs that may be traveling with you. Please note that it’s not a very tall fence, so keep an eye on your furry friends. If your furry friends are not nice with other people or dogs, please do not leave them unattended outside. Even if they are good playmates, please let us know if you will be bringing a pet, so we can let anyone who might be staying in the back cottage aware. Finally, as a courtesy to other guests, please pick up after you pets if they go to the bathroom in the yard.
We do have neighbors on 3 sides, so please be respectful of them by keeping the noise at a reasonable level when you are in the backyard. If you’re having a barbecue, please move inside after 9pm so that the neighbors are not disturbed.
There is a washer and dryer in the hall closet near the back door, with detergent provided for your convenience. Please check the lint catcher in the dryer before you run it, to prevent a safety hazard.
Quiet hours after 10:00 p.m. No smoking on the property. Evidence of smoking will result in a fee of $250.
